Invest in Pomerania grant for award-winning jeweller from Gdynia

Grant Amber

Silver & Amber will receive PLN 800,000 to revitalise an investment area in Gdynia. This is yet another funding awarded in the ‘Invest in Pomerania 2020’ grant competition. Thanks to the funding, Pomeranian companies are given the opportunity to develop their business and increase employment.

30 years of amber

The history of Silver & Amber dates back to 1992, when a young jewellery school graduate Adam Pstrągowski set up his first craft workshop. Soon, amber became so popular that the already rapidly growing company decided to finance the opening of a school to educate a new generation of designers and jewellers. A milestone in the company’s development turned out to be the turn onto the Chinese market. More than 20 years of expansion resulted in an extensive retail network and a brand dedicated exclusively to the Far Eastern market.
After 30 years on the market, Silver & Amber has a recognisable style. The production includes amber, silver and gold jewellery. The funds raised from the Invest in Pomerania 2020 grant will be used to diversify production, expanding the company’s portfolio to include furniture production.

– Thanks to the grant, we will not only create better conditions for employees by modernising the buildings located on the plot, but we will also contribute to the revitalisation of one of the oldest districts of Gdynia. Chylonia’s glory days are far gone, but it is an excellently located area with great development potential. This part of the city fully deserves to become the business heart of the region in the future. We hope that our activities will increase the attractiveness of the area and generate interest from new investors – says Adam Pstrągowski, CEO of Silver & Amber.

The total cost of the investment will amount to over PLN 2.3 million.

We are looking to the future

The funds are awarded as part of the ‘Invest in Pomerania 2020’ grant project implemented by the Pomerania Development Agency. It is part of a broader policy of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Self-Government to prepare new investment areas, the availability of which is an essential element of building the economic competitiveness of each region. Funds awarded under the grants come from the Regional Operational Programme for Pomerania 2014-2020. The call for applications has already ended and verification of the last applications submitted by entrepreneurs is underway. The programme is expected to result in the preparation of at least 50 hectares of land for investment by the end of 2023. It is estimated that thanks to the new projects, more than 400 new jobs will be created in Pomerania, and entrepreneurs will invest a total of PLN 80 million.

– The idea behind the grant programme is to bring economic initiatives to the interior, activating areas that have so far been neglected. Industrial diversification brings us closer to the ambitious goal of introducing sustainable development throughout the voivodship. Thanks to EU funding, it is possible to implement ambitious projects that serve local communities – argues Maciej Silarski, Project Manager at Invest in Pomerania 2020.
