The invest in Pomerania BSS sector status report for 1.01.2017 shows consistent growth dynamics in the sector’s employment partly due new investments, but most of all due to organic development in the existing ones. The report contains 118 (vs 106 at 1.01.2016 which shows an 11% growth) companies operating in SSC\/BPO, IT and R&D (only companies with 10 or more employees were included) in the region. Depicted data consist of: employment size, time of location in the region, types of supported processes, and supported foreign languages.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over 90% of the listed centers\/ companies are based within the Tri-City agglomeration, the business hub of Pomerania.<\/p>\n

Referring to general process groups, centers in the region represent: IT- 67 companies, SSC -27, BPO- 15, R&D-7. Most of them originating from: Poland-33, USA- 25, Norway- 12. Next in line are Sweden- 7,Netherlands-6, France and Denmark each with 5.<\/p>\n

Note: aggregated projects from the Nordics sum up to 28 projects. Going further with the overall grouping, the described projects provide 21339 Full Time Employments, almost equally split between the SSC\/ BPO and IT\/ IT R&D streams.<\/p>\n

The average project size in SSC is 271 FTE, BPO- 215 FTE, IT- 122 FTE, and IT R&D- 376 FTE which altogether gives approximately 181 employments per project- well in line with the average for Poland.<\/p>\n

Among the foreign languages supported in the researched business centers English (104) is naturally dominant. The other popular languages are German- 27 companies, Swedish \/ Norwegian- 14, and French\/ Russian\/ Danish- 13. Twenty five companies included in the report support at least 4 languages. In this context special focus is drawn to IT, BPO\/SSC supporting processes in 11 (Kemira, Young Digital Planet), 12 (Sony Pictures, Transcom Worldwide), 19 (Get Response), and the undisputed record bearer among centers in Poland: Thomson Reuters, with 33 languages.<\/p>\n

Pomeranian BSS centers support mainly: software development, R&D, IT helpdesk, data centre, telemarketing, customer service, financial services, finance & accounting, hr, payroll and KPO. The growing trends include: logistics\/supply chain, data & document management, marketing, research & analysis, real estate management and LPO.<\/p>\n

Most centers support on average 4 types of processes, however exceptions such as Thomson Reuters, Intel Technology or DNV-GL offering wider scopes are becoming ever more popular due to high value added coming from their grouping them in multi-process hubs. Most of the new entries are designed according to the Global Business Services (GBS) model from the start.<\/p>\n

We can observe stable growing interest from \u201cmicro-multinationals\u201d from Scandinavia. These are technology SME\u2019s opening small (30-50 FTEs) developing centers in Tri-City. In 2016 5 of these companies introduced their investment, and the pipeline looks very solid for 2017 with prevailing interest in Java and .Net technologies.<\/p>\n

Overall through the course of 2016 we could spot significant employment growth among most of the existing centers (with new entrants in all main process groups) and a\u00a0constant diversification in supported process, hand in hand with growing complexity of the already popular ones.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
