The event gathers a growing number of companies that provide services to the region’s expanding BSS sector.

Pomerania’s BSS sector has grown dynamically in the last two decades, from just 5 investors in 1999 to 127 in 2017. Employment in the sector has grown by 130% between the 2012 and 2017. Last year brought a number of new entries and major reinvestments. This growth has translated into almost 24 thousand full-time jobs already (an 11 proc. growth compared to 12 months ago) and is expected to continue at this pace.

More high-end jobs

The trend is already visible. Well-established companies with long presence in Pomerania are expanding their operations and upskilling. This includes implementing new big data management and process automation, commonly known as RPA. Some companies are already hunting for relevant specialists, such as data scientist, data engineers or IT risk assessment experts.

– This is a chance for talents from the region to choose new careers, but also creates a more stable economic environment– says Marcin Grzegory, Deputy Director of Invest in Pomerania. – It’s enough to say that over seven thousand Polish migrants moved to Pomerania Region last year due to a combination of great quality of life and job opportunities. We’ve had a very good media coverage, we are very much noticed globally, and are on the best way to attract more investors in the future – she adds.

Looking ahead, Invest in Pomerania also has ambitious plans related to education. Not only does it facilitate growth of the BSS sector by connecting companies with providers, it also wants to connect them with the region’s academic institutions more efficiently to create fertile ground for future innovations.

Over 70 representatives of the vendor companies for the Business Service Sector (BSS) gathered Friday at the Quarterly Meeting for Providers hosted by Invest in Pomerania.
