Pomorskie is third in Poland in terms of electricity production from renewable energy sources. It is as much as 53.1 percent of all energy consumed in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More and more green energy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to new data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the share of renewable energy sources in the total energy production in Pomerania is as much as 53.1 percent. Compared to the 14.1 percent share elsewhere in Poland, this is a very good result indeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In real numbers, the consumption of energy from renewable sources in Pomerania looks very good. However, when it comes to production of green energy, there is still room for improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Considering renewable energy consumption, we rank high in the country \u2013 says Jaros\u0142aw Kumi\u0119ga from the Department of Economic Development at Pomerania\u2019s Marshal’s Office. \u2013 On the other hand, the energy production based on renewable sources is still half of what Pomerania consumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ratio of electricity production to energy consumption in the region is nevertheless growing. While in 2017 the total energy consumption amounted to 8,756 GWh, the region produced 4,534 GWh the same year, of which 2,409 GWh came from renewable sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wind energy is the game<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest share of renewable electricity production in the region comes from wind farms that generate over 86 percent of all green electricity in Pomerania. Hydropower plants are responsible for less than 6 percent, while remaining sources have a share from about 3 percent (biogas) to 0,2 percent (photovoltaics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growing investments in renewables<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pomerania continues to heavily invest\u00a0in renewable energy sources. Last year, the local authorities signed agreements with several municipalities for co-financing of green projects, such as heat pumps, biogas and photovoltaic installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These investments will increase the overall energy security of the region, improve energy balance by reducing imports, and lower environmental pollution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
