The region of Pomerania is once again participating in\nthe MIPIM fair in Cannes that starts today. It is not the first time when\nPomerania Development Agency invites the largest cities in the region to cooperate\nand jointly  promote the region\u2019s investment\noffer. Gda\u0144sk, Gdynia, Sopot, Rumia and Pruszcz Gda\u0144ski will present their most\nimportant investment projects at the stand of Pomerania. The largest real\nestate event in Europe will last until March 15.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pomerania region at MIPIM<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s edition of the fair is the 30th anniversary of the\nevent. Its long-established tradition attracts the largest investors from the\ncommercial real estate industry, investment funds, developers, political\nleaders and representatives of cities from around the world, accounting for a\ntotal of over 25,000 participants representing more than 100 countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previous years showed that business relationships established in\nCannes result in new investments in our region, such as Galeria Ba\u0142tycka built\nby ECE, the Tryton office building built by the Echo Investment group, and the\ndevelopment of the Rakowy and Sienny market by the Multi Development company,\njust to name a few. During the last year\u2019s event, the town of Rumia established\ncooperation with the Panattoni company, which is currently building a logistics\ncentre within the town borders. During last year\u2019s fair, the owners of the\nImperial Shipyard signed a contract with the Henning Larsen architectural\nstudio from Copenhagen on the M\u0142ode Miasto (Young City) project. Great urban\nprojects, such as Sea City and Mi\u0119dzytorze in Gdynia or Wyspa Spichrz\u00f3w in\nGda\u0144sk, and dozens of hectares of land intended to be used for investment\nprojects in logistics, were promoted during the fair. The Cannes trade fair is an\nexcellent platform to start investment and real estate negotiations. They are continued\nlater on and their results can already be seen in urban space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is new this year?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s investment offer of the region of Pomerania\nis as rich and diverse as it was in previous years. In total, we will present\nnearly 520 ha of land across the entire region, including plots of land to be\nused in production, logistics, hotel, recreation and housing industries, <\/em>says Ryszard \u015awilski, Deputy Marshal of the Pomerania Voivodship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the next MIPIM trade fair in Cannes, the City of Gda\u0144sk<\/strong> in cooperation with\nINVESTGDA [Gdansk Economic Development Agency] intends to present and promote\nthe development of revitalized lands such as: Dolne Miasto (Lower City), Nowy\nPort (New Port), dock areas and M\u0142ode Miasto (Young City). Two former projects\nwere executed through the public-private partnership formula, <\/em>says Piotr Grzelak, deputy Mayor of the City of Gda\u0144sk. What is more, INVESTGDA promotes areas\nlocated in the immediate vicinity of the Port of Gda\u0144sk and the DCT terminal,\nwhich both affect the development of dock areas and the increase in the volume\nof bulk cargo transhipments at the DCT terminal.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sopot<\/em><\/strong>, an attractive green resort is not only an ideal place to live but also a prestigious investment location. We would like to attract investors from the hotel industry, with a strong emphasis on curative and spa services based on the salt brine in Sopot. For this purpose, we are preparing for sale a very interesting property with an area of 0.5 h in the coastal belt, in the immediate vicinity of the Spa of St. Wojciech – a source of brine, <\/em>says the president of Sopot, Jacek Karnowski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, we will continue to sell plots for\nresidential construction in Gdansk. We will offer an area of approximately 5.3\nha in Zakoniczyn district. In the following years 2020-2021, we plan to\nannounce another tender procedure for the sale of real estate in Gdansk\n\u0141ostowice.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company Ergo Arena is looking for an investor who\nwill build a hotel, and after the investment will manage it, or will find an\noperator.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rumia<\/em><\/strong> is one of the fastest growing towns in the region of Pomerania\nwith the number of residents, as well as new companies, constantly growing\nevery year. We offer 130 ha of attractive lands to be used for the purpose of\nindustry, services and logistics, which will be fitted with all necessary\nnetwork and road infrastructure this year, <\/em>says Micha\u0142 Pasieczny, the mayor of Rumia. One of the advantages of this area is also the proximity of the\nrailway siding that supports the transport of large-size goods of undefined\nshapes and creates favourable conditions for the opening of a multi-modal\nplatform in Rumia. The location of industrial areas in the Port of Gdynia\nLogistic Valley makes Rumia the second most attractive investment location in\nPomerania, right after Gda\u0144sk.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this year\u2019s MIPIM trade fair in Cannes, the town of Pruszcz Gda\u0144ski<\/strong> prepared a\nwide range of investment plots in various parts of town with a total area of\napprox. 43 ha. The plots are mainly intended for the service, production,\nhousing and logistics industry. The appeal of the investment offer of Pruszcz\nGda\u0144ski lies in its great connection to the most important communication hubs\nof Pomerania, namely the A1 motorway or the Gda\u0144sk-Gdynia-Sopot<\/em> bypass, the main railway\nline connecting Gda\u0144sk and Warsaw, <\/em>says Janusz Wr\u00f3bel, the Mayor of Pruszcz\nGda\u0144ski. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gdynia, Polish City of the Future<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The prize award ceremony for the best locations for foreign direct investments will take place today. The ceremony is called \u201cPolish Cities of the Future 2019\/2020\u201d and is organized by fDi Intelligence and GIS Planning. The city of Gdynia has been in the lead in as many as 7 categories and received the first prize in the \u201cTop 5 Mid-sized Polish Cities of the Future 2019\/2020 \u2013 Economic Potential\u201d and \u201cTop 5 Mid-sized Polish Cities of the Future 2019\/2020 \u2013 Overall\u201d categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MIPIM Trade Show is one of the most important professional events and an excellent opportunity to attract strategic investors. During the jubilee, 30th edition of the Trade Show, Gdynia will be awarded the prestigious title – 2019\/2020 City of the Future as well as the 2019\/2020 City with the best economic potential. Once again we had the highest positions in the British ranking conducted by the Financial Times. However, we are not going to Cannes only to receive the titles, <\/em>says the vice-president of Gdynia, Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spycha\u0142a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a modern, entrepreneurial city that is closely\nconnected with the sea we always focus on identifying with large European\ncentres that also have waterfronts. That is why during the Show we organize a\ndiscussion panel at the stand during which, together with Lisbon, Belfast and\nRotterdam, we will share our experiences in the field of effective solutions\nfor creating waterfront spaces. This is our seminar contribution to MIPIM that\nwe can offer as members \u2013 founders of the \u201cWaterfront Cities\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We invariably focus on the hotel industry. In Gdynia\nthere is still a shortage of more high-standard hotels. In the city there are\nplots in unique locations along the coastal zone \u2013 these areas will be the\nsubject of talks with key investors. Through our presence at the Show we\npresent Gdynia\u2019s development potential and encourage international players to\ninvest with us.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waterfront in the foreground<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During the second day of the fair, a panel devoted to quay\ndevelopment called \u201cWaterfront Regeneration: Challenges and Opportunities\u201d will\ntake place at the Pomeranian stand. The event is organized by the City of\nGdynia and will be led by Professor Greg Clark, an urban planner, author of\npublications on urban development and business investments, an advisor to and\nmentor of many agglomerations and companies around the world. The\nrepresentatives of the cities of Rotterdam, Lisbon, Belfast and Gdynia will\nshare their experiences in waterfront design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dynamic changes on the Pomeranian real estate market <\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Pomeranian real estate market provides all sectors of the economy with great opportunities. Sustainable development of companies operating in the modern business services sector on the Pomeranian market and the inflow of new investment projects stimulate the growth of the office real estate sector. Currently, Gda\u0144sk, Gdynia and Sopot have over 775,000 m2<\/sup> of office space available for sale or rent, which makes them the fourth-largest real estate market in Poland. According to the latest Colliers data, Olivia Prime \u2013 a part of the Olivia Business Centre complex \u2013 was the largest office building put into use in the third quarter of 2018 in Poland. This investment has delivered 28,000 m2<\/sup> of modern offices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industrial and warehouse space\ncontinues to grow dynamically as well, driven by sustainable development of\nseaports in Gda\u0144sk, Gdynia and Sopot. Record-breaking transhipment volume makes\nthe expansion of logistic infrastructure necessary. According to data for the\nthird quarter of 2018 for the whole country, the demand for this type of\nproperty significantly exceeded the supply (818 000 m2<\/sup> compared to\n683 400 m2<\/sup>). This means that investment opportunities in our region\nare tremendous. Investment projects that Pomerania has to offer satisfy the\ndemand on the Pomeranian real estate market. Of more ver 370 ha of space\noffered at the fair are the plots intended to be used in the logistics and\nindustry sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the MIPIM fair, hotel and residential facilities are also very popular. On average, nine million tourists visit the region of Pomerania annually and this number is increasing year by year. Recently, Gda\u0144sk, Gdynia and Sopot have been ranked highly in many prestigious rankings, such as Top Global Destinations On The Rise, published by the Trip Advisor website, or European Best Destination 2017, where the city of Gda\u0144sk was awarded. What is more, Gda\u0144sk, Gdynia and Sopot are one of the foremost agglomerations in Central and Eastern Europe. They are also are leaders in Poland according to the index of quality of life measured by the level of safety, costs of living and air quality. This shows that the region of Pomerania is an attractive place not only to spend holidays but also to settle permanently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
