thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering launches up production in Gdańsk

The internationally active company thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering wants to build machines and transport systems for the automotive industry in Poland from the beginning of 2023. The focus will be on electromobility. The company is currently recruiting qualified employees for the new production facility.

Mechanical and plant engineering company thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering GmbH (tk AE) is increasing its production capacity to meet the growing number of orders in the promising field of electromobility. The company’s management chose Gdansk as the location for the new production facility. The availability of qualified specialists and the ease of integration of the new factory into the existing organisation prevailed. tk AE has other important production facilities in Bremen and Chemnitz. The Gdansk location will produce machines and assembly systems for drive systems in the area of e-Mobility. Target customers include car manufacturers and suppliers.

– From our point of view, the conditions in Poland and Gdansk are ideal – explains Olaf Schultz, Member of the Management Board of thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering division Poland. – We have maintained close and successful business relationships with our Polish partner companies for many years; in particular, we have a very good network in the Gdansk area. We want to expand this network and develop cooperation in the future and support it with our own location in Gdansk.

Experienced specialists sought

Preparations for the launch of the production facility are currently underway. Recruitment of staff with diverse qualifications is underway. It is planned to employ 30-50 people. Machine design engineers, PLC and robotics programmers, automation system designers, industrial plant mechanics and electricians are sought after. Experience in mechanical engineering and industrial line commissioning, as well as project management in the automotive industry, is highly desirable.
tk AE Invest in Pomerania, a local government initiative coordinated by the Pomerania Development Agency, is helping to select the location of the new plant. The accessibility of highways, the rail network and seaports, as well as the infrastructure of cooperating companies, will certainly be key. tk AE plans to start production at the new plant in spring 2023. Invest in Pomerania will also support the investor in promoting employer branding activities.
