LEO Pharma Aims to Expand Operations in Gdańsk

LEO Pharma, a Danish company with more than 115 years of experience in healthcare, announces the next phase of development for its office in Gdańsk. In the years ahead, LEO Pharma aims to significantly expand its local workforce.

LEO Pharma is a global leader in medical dermatology and the treatment of skin conditions, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and acne, as well as thrombosis. Founded in 1908 in Denmark, the company now operates in over 70 markets, delivering innovative solutions to patients with high unmet need.

Five Years in Gdańsk

Operating since 2020, the Gdańsk office serves as one of LEO Pharma’s key global operations support hubs. The Tricity location hosts IT, quality control, R&D, and shared services operations. Strengthening the company’s presence in Poland reflects LEO Pharma’s confidence in local capabilities and forms part of its long-term growth strategy in the Central and Eastern European region.

Gdańsk is a strategic location for us – not only because of access to highly skilled professionals, but also thanks to modern business infrastructure and the pro-investment approach of local authorities. Our teams in Poland make a real impact on global processes and innovations at LEO Pharma – says Mikael Praestegaard Fredsted from LEO Pharma.

As part of its new investment, LEO Pharma will allocate over PLN 29 million to expand its operations in Gdańsk. The company has received support for this initiative under the Polish Investment Zone program, managed by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone.

New Job Opportunities

Recruitment is ongoing for 60 new positions in IT, Global Quality, R&D, and support functions such as finance and legal.

The expansion aligns with the growing trend of the business services and pharmaceutical/biotech sectors in the Pomeranian region. As Marcin Grzegory from Invest in Pomerania – the regional initiative that helped bring the investment to the Tricity – highlights, Gdańsk continues to strengthen its position as a center for innovation and technological expertise. This view is echoed by the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship:

LEO Pharma’s decision to expand its operations in Gdańsk confirms that Pomerania is not only home to highly qualified specialists in digital technologies, but also a region that is welcoming to global life sciences organizations. We are proud to support the growth of a company that combines advanced technology with a real impact on health and quality of life for people around the world – says Mieczysław Struk.
