Capgemini Poland bets on Gdansk

Capgemini Polska is developing its Business Services Center – the organization is officially opening its office in Gdansk. In Pomerania the company focuses on web projects realized in Agile and DevOps systems, using the latest technologies. Only in the first year the company plans to employ 200 people in the Gdansk office. In the perspective of the next three years it will be about 1000 employees in total.

As Capgemini representatives emphasize, the company decided to enter the Tri-City because of its rapid development as an IT hub, which is shown both by external reports and analyses conducted by the organization. The expansion to the north of the country is also related to the company’s plans for a hybrid work model. It’s important to the organization that employees don’t have to work fully remotely and have the ability to both work from home and come into the office. For this reason, it is important to enter markets where specialists in the areas in which the company operates are available, so that the people hired can work in the mode preferred by the organization. Such a philosophy was applied in Gdansk.

In addition to Agile and DevOps systems, the new center will implement web projects using leading technologies (Java, .NET, Angular, React). Projects will be managed locally, which, from the clients’ perspective, will be an undeniable advantage of the new center of Capgemini Poland.

  • What will distinguish the new branch from other existing Capgemini centers is the focus on web technologies in Agile and DevOps – we will build the new branch in the spirit of agile values also outside the projects. At the beginning we will focus on specialization, and in the following years we will focus on dynamic growth, diversifying both projects and clients and enriching our teams with new talent. It is very important for us that our employees have responsibility and influence on projects and on building of the new center – comments Jerzy Szwarc, Head Portfolio NSC at Capgemini Poland.

In the first months of operations, the Gdansk branch of Capgemini Poland will serve three strategic clients, including both global and domestic projects. Ultimately, the center is expected to develop very dynamically, increasing the number of clients and expanding the team to approximately 1000 employees within three years.

  • The first client we will be working with from the new Capgemini center will be Kuehne+Nagel, one of the world’s leading logistics companies with a strong market position in ocean freight, airfreight, land transportation and contract logistics, which focuses on integrated logistics solutions. We have been working with Kuehne+Nagel for many years and as part of this partnership we, as Capgemini, provide assistance in implementing business critical systems, digitalization and automation. In the Gdansk office we will lead projects implementing complex systems related to logistics services providing Kuehne+Nagel’s customers with the fastest and most reliable real-time information about their transport. Other projects include operational processes and tasks as well as systems for data aggregation and analysis. We are looking forward to the start of new exciting projects in Gdansk using advanced and cloud-based technologies, developed in an agile environment with and for our partner Kuehne+Nagel – says Pawel Kwasnica, Kuehne+Nagel Delivery Executive at Capgemini Poland.

  • Pomerania is successfully attracting new investors thanks to i.a. well developing cooperation between sectors. It is a necessary condition for creating favorable environment for modern business, development of products and services of tomorrow. We welcome Capgemini to our region. I am convinced that it will carry out its ambitious plans here – says Mieczyslaw Struk, Marshall of Pomeranian Voivodship.

Tri-City is a constantly developing center of the modern business services sector (BSS). Strong community, which was established here a decade ago and is constantly developing, allows new companies to benefit from the experience and good practices of other players.

  • Tri-City is a perfect place for realization of the company’s goals. Surely, it will find here the right employees to build a stable and harmonious team. This is a business ecosystem where new ideas and networks are created every day, so it is very easy to gain new business partners, clients and develop innovative solutions for many different industries – confirms Alan Aleksandrowicz, Deputy Mayor of Gdansk for Investment.

Currently Capgemini is recruiting the first people, who will join the new branch. Among the candidates we are looking for people who know the previously mentioned technologies – Java, .NET, Angular, React and who speak English.
