March 30, 2017 – Intel announces the launch of its Compiler Center of Excellence in Gdansk, Poland. The center will build upon decades of Intel’s advanced compiler technologies and expertise to become the hub of compiler innovation advancing business-critical technologies in Enterprise, Supercomputing, 5G, Autonomous Driving, Artificial Intelligence, etc.

Intel is looking to expand this center substantially, and is actively seeking to hire compiler experts and software professionals from all of Eastern Europe. Additionally, Intel is seeking collaboration with local universities to further drive R&D and innovation, with joint courses, internships, and summer school.

The Intel compiler is the best in class compiler in the industry, delivering record breaking performance for numerous Intel platforms. The Intel compiler team achieves leadership with state-of-the-art compiler technologies, including loop transformation, parallelization, vectorization, and code optimization. Intel’s compiler team also drives important industry standards (C, C++, Fortran, OpenMP, OpenCL), and works closely with key industry partners. In addition, the Intel compiler team is one of the top contributors to Open Source projects, such as LLVM, GCC and Android NDK. Intel compilers play a key role in ensuring the performance leadership of Intel platforms, enabling the software ecosystem on Intel platforms, and advancing business-critical technologies in Enterprise, Supercomputing, 5G, Autonomous Driving, Artificial Intelligence, etc.

The Compiler Center of Excellence will be joining Intel Gdansk, one of Intel’s largest European R&D sites, with more than 1800 employees. Says Intel Vice President Bill Savage, “I’m delighted to have the Intel compiler team come to Poland. I’m excited about the software talent here.
