ISS, a leading workplace and facility management company, is once again investing in the Pomeranian region. The decision made two years ago to establish the Finance Service Centre in Gdańsk was supported by Invest in Pomerania, an initiative coordinated by the Pomeranian Development Agency. From the outset, the team actively supported ISS in the location selection and business launch process. Now, the Danish company has opened an additional floor, significantly scaling up its operations in the region.
Thanks to access to a skilled workforce, a mature business services ecosystem, and a stable economic environment, the TriCity area continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for the business services sector (BSS) in Europe. These factors played a crucial role in ISS’ decision to establish its finance centre in Gdańsk – alongside its key locations in Copenhagen and Warsaw.
TriCity – a natural choice for the BSS Sector
The expansion into a new floor at the Wave office building, developed by Skanska, represents more than just infrastructure growth – it is above all an investment in people and in the continued development of high workplace standards rooted in equality, diversity, and inclusive office space design. The new space will enable ISS to scale its operations and hire up to 200 additional professionals, further unlocking the benefits of standardisation and efficiency.
– We chose Gdańsk because we saw a unique combination of a mature market and continuously growing potential. It’s one of the easiest places to enter and grow a business – offering access to highly educated talent, a strong academic base, and a work culture that aligns with our values of work-life balance. Thanks to our close collaboration with Invest in Pomerania, we felt supported from day one – both operationally and strategically. Today, we are growing faster than expected, and the decision to lease another floor is a natural next step – we need space for the new teams we’re building. This is just the beginning of our presence in the region. – says Paweł Rowicki, Head of Global Shared Services Transformation at ISS.
According to Invest in Pomerania, ISS’ reinvestment is further evidence that the Pomeranian region is a stable and attractive location for establishing and scaling advanced business operations.
– The fact that ISS not only chose Gdańsk as its location but also decided to expand and increase headcount in such a short time clearly demonstrates that our region effectively meets the needs of global business services companies. When we supported them two years ago during the location selection process, we emphasized the potential of the TriCity talent market – and this expansion is the best validation of that message. – comments Marcin Grzegory, Deputy Director of Invest in Pomerania, responsible for the development of the modern business services sector.
Danish work culture and global reach
ISS delivers integrated facility management services to 40,000 clients in over 30 countries and employs approximately 325,000 people worldwide. Its services include cleaning, technical, food and workplace.
Sustainability, safety, inclusivity, and employee well-being are the cornerstones of the company’s operations – reflected both in the high standards of Danish organizational culture and in the modern solutions implemented in the newly opened office space.
