Pomorskie: your preferred business destination

fDi European Cities and Regions of the Future 2022/2023 ranking results are out! The Pomeranian Voivodeship was ranked seventh in the FDI category of Mid-sized European Cities and Regions of the Future. Gdańsk was awarded as a medium-sized business-friendly city, and Gdynia’s FDI strategy was awarded in the small-city category.

fDi Intelligence, a specialist unit of the Financial Times, has just published its 8th European Cities and Regions of the Future ranking. As many as 148 regions and 356 European cities were grouped by population size and then ranked based on economic potential, business friendliness, connectivity, human capital and lifestyle, and cost-effectiveness. The main finding in this year’s study is that, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, FDI proved to be more resilient in Europe than in other regions of the world.

In the 2022/2023 ranking, Pomorskie Voivodeship ranks 7 in the Mid-sized regions – FDI Strategy category, Gdańsk ranks 8 in Mid Sized cities – Business Friendliness category, and Gdynia ranks 10 in Small Cities – FDI strategy category. It is worth adding that Pomorskie is the only Polish region in the top ten. We have also overtaken such famous European regions as the Canary Islands,  Basque Country,  and Tuscany.

– These rankings reinforce the work that we are doing to make the region more sustainable, business friendly and diverse. But these rankings also serve as a reminder that we have some way to go before we enter the true big leagues. This gets us coming up with new ideas to augment our services and create even better solutions to make Pomorskie truly the best place to live, work and study in, after all, we care more!says Mieczysław Struk, Marshall of the Pomorskie Voivodeship.

On a regional level, fDi’s research team analysed 148 European regions, grouped into 3 size categories – large, mid-sized, and small, to identify locations with the biggest investment potential. The only qualitative category in the ranking – FDI Strategy – was based on responses from investment promotion agencies and constitutes a stand-alone ranking feeding into the overall results.
