Six years of AMS in Gdańsk

AMS, a global total workforce solutions provider is celebrating six years of its operations in the Tricity. The company employs over 300 employees and plans further growth of its Gdańsk office.

It’s been six years since AMS made the Tricity its second Polish headquarters. It started small, with a team of ten in a small, temporary office at the Alchemia Business Center, but grew fast to become a 300 people team servicing more than 20 global clients.

We are very happy that we played a small part in the success of AMS in Gdańsk. – says Marcin Grzegory, Deputy Director of Invest in Pomerania. When Jolanta Gantkowska, the Managing Director of AMS in Poland, came to us for help 6 years ago, she was only considering Gdańsk as a potential new office location. We could see that AMS and the Tricity were a perfect match and we are glad that we were able to convince them. As the last 6 years have shown, we were right.

AMS employees represent 50 nationalities and come from diverse backgrounds. Leaders of the company consider this high ethnic diversity an advantage. AMS recognises the value of combining different perspectives and experiences in order to prompt innovation and solve problems. Diversity and inclusion are core values of the company.

Diversity has always been a part of AMS DNA, that’s why we find Tricity, especially Gdańsk, with its long history as a multicultural city and policy of openness and tolerance, a perfect place for us. We want to build a business culture of equity and inclusion. We established Employee Resource Groups and global Diversity and Inclusion Boards to ensure that we realise those goals. In fact, we were on this path long before D&I became such a hot topic. Similarly, work flexibility a very trendy topic of the previous year, has been an integral element of our business culture for a long time – says Paweł Hajduk, Head of AMS Gdańsk Centre.

In addition to two comfortable floors of the Alchemia complex with all the advantages of a modern office, AMS offers its employees the possibility of partial or entirely remote work. Shortly after opening the Tricity branch, AMS had a chance to test its remote work capability when the Kraków office was closed due to World Youth Days and over 300 employees were brought to Gdańsk.

To accommodate everyone, most of the Gdańsk team had to work from home as well. The experiment was a big success, so big that several colleagues decided to move to the Tricity permanently! – says Paweł Hajduk. This experience proved very useful considering the latest changes caused by the pandemic. The transition to remote work mode that many companies struggled with, was much easier for AMS as most of the employees have been accustomed to this mode of operation.

2020 was a tough year for the BSS sector, including AMS, but after the company responded to the challenges faced by their clients, they were pleased to see strong business growth, with new projects and a focus on hiring new employees to strengthen its team. The Tricity plays a key role in AMS’s ambitious plans for the future as it’s meant to become the  AMS services “showroom”.

By the end of 2021, AMS Tricity plans to employ 50-100 people.  Open positions vary from entry level roles, requiring only  good command of the language that include a full training, to the more specialised positions of recruiters, business intelligence specialists, analysts, and full stack developers.
