Bavarian politicians and businessmen discussed cooperation with Pomerania. There is potential for technology transfers and investments

This is yet another meeting of the Pomeranian authorities with the authorities of the federal state of Bavaria, which continues the long tradition of economic cooperation between the two regions. This time, the Bavarian delegation chaired by Hubert Aiwanger, deputy prime minister and minister of economy, regional development and energy in the Bavarian state government, were also accompanied by Bavarian investors.

The meeting was attended by the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Gdańsk, Cornelia Pieper, Director at the Polish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK), Anna Chojnacka, and Paweł Lulewicz, Vice President of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, as well as by representatives of Invest in Pomerania.

As always, the subject of the meeting concerned economic cooperation. During the debate titled “Industry 4.0 – Economy of the Future – Experiences of Polish and Bavarian Entrepreneurs” held in the Baltic Port of New Technologies in Gdynia, the representatives of Pomerania and Bavaria exchanged their experiences on the use of automation and digitization in an economy that is in the digital transformation phase.

The term “Industrie 4.0” comes from the draft strategy by the German government that promotes the use of high technologies and computerization of manufacturing processes. Both regions are pioneers in this field – as the leading locations for global corporations, which are introducing advanced business processes.

The guests from Germany were welcomed by the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, and discussed the prospects for closer cooperation between Pomerania and Bavaria. Among other topics, support for innovations, creation of clusters, technology transfers and ICT industry were discussed. One of the best practices for development of regions is international cooperation at the regional level, which we in the Pomeranian Development Agency are constantly cultivating and improving – said Marcin Grzegory, deputy director at Invest in Pomerania. – We are combining theory with practice, as well as the format of official contacts between regional authorities with a typical investor’s visit and elements of economic mission.
