The building of Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and IT is being built on the UG campus in Gdańsk Oliwa. The investment is co-financed under the Regional Operational Program of the Pomorskie Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020, and its completion is scheduled for the second half of 2019. On October 15th, with the participation of invited guests, a solemn laying of the foundation act was held.
The total net area of the building is approx. 3912 m2, including a volume of 22 678 m3. There will be five storeys of the building, with one located underground. The facility will be connected to the existing building of the Faculty with a link at the level of the second and third floors. Moreover, the seminar and computer rooms, auditoria, didactic and scientific rooms as well as office and social rooms are planned in the building.
The new faculty building is intended primarily for the field of practical IT, which will be opened thanks to the possibilities offered by the new infrastructure.

The building contractor selected in a public tender is Korporacja Budowlana DORACO Sp. z o.o.
The investment is planned to be completed in the second half of 2019. The value of investment outlays necessary to implement the project amounts to over 39 million PLN. The University of Gdańsk received funding for the project within the framework of the Regional Operational Program of the Pomorskie Voivodeship for the years 2014 – 2020 in the amount of over PLN 21 million, the remaining part in the amount of PLN 18 million is the own contribution of the university. The partner of the project is also Kainos Software Poland Sp. z o.o.
About the Faculty
Currently, over 1,200 students study at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. The Faculty offers education in 7 fields of study, postgraduate and doctoral studies. In addition to the fields of study, such as Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, the department offers interdisciplinary studies in the field of medical physics, nuclear safety and radiological protection as well as mathematical modeling and data analysis.
