Pomerania supports youth entrepreneurship. Another successful edition of Gdansk Business Week

The event’s eight edition was organized by the Gdańsk Entrepreneurship Incubator STARTER, the City of Gdańsk in cooperation with Washington Business Week. Invest in Pomerania sat on the jury assessing the final projects.

Gdańsk Business Week connects not only young people, but also foreign and Polish representatives of companies and institutions who take care of participants, teach them about business aspects, evaluate their projects and listen to the participants’ presentations. Representatives of Invest in Pomerania took part in this year’s edition, offering knowledge useful in investment processes. They also sat in the jury  that assessed the final projects created by participants.

– I followed the projects’ presentations with a keen interest – says Bartosz Wojtasiak, project manager at Invest in Pomerania. – The scope of ideas exceeded  this year’s Gdańsk Business Week program and showed young people’s understanding of  economics and advanced technologies.

Good cooperation

The list of professionals present at this year’s edition shows the scale of cooperation between the region’s institutions and companies: Starter, Gdańsk municipality and the Pomeranian Voivodeship authorities , as well as InvestGda, Invest in Pomerania, Speednet, Flex, Jeppesen, BZ WBK Bank, Port of Gdansk, Nordea, State Street, Lufthansa, Profit Plus , DCT and others. The program was also attended by educators from the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development and MBA Kids. LINKS

– Throughout the week I watched the transformation of young people who quickly learned how to work in a team and overcome language barriers. Participants from various countries integrated swiftly and after a few days they were able to propose first business ideas. They also showed a huge confidence and belief in their own abilities.– says Anna Knoff, event coordinator at Gdańsk startup incubator Starter.

Microrobots and anti-jetlag masks

10 lectures, workshops and so-called business simulations helped participants to refine their business English, introduced them to the art of public speaking and social media management. The most important, however, was creativity, stimulated by new input of knowledge and exercises. Thanks to these, many innovative business projects emerged to be evaluated by a group of experts during the last day of the program. Among them were microrobots implanted in the bloodstream, masks to prevent jetlag and ecological fertilizers , to name just a few.
