We were at the IT Manager of Tomorrow conference – how does future management look like?

IT Manager of Tomorrow is a three-day conference dedicated to IT managers, technological transformations and hot trends in the industry, such as DevOps and ITIL®4. This year, the conference was held in Sopot Sheraton.

IT manager in the midst of a technological shift

IT manager must smoothly operate the language of high tech, but also translate tasks and discoveries into a clear business compass- said Szymon Kudła during the conference

An IT manager who coordinates work of developers was in the spotlight during this year’s  conference organized by Let’s Manage IT. In times of dynamic changes, characterised by V.U.C.A. ( Variation, Uncertainty, Complexity Ambiguity,), this role needs regular updating. This means recognizing the core competencies of manager and discussing them based  real situations. Speakers shared this kind of insights extensively during the conference.

Ten IT managers selected by the Let’s Manage IT committee spoke about changes in management practices that have occurred in their companies. Experts from Arla Foods, ABB, BNP Paribas Bank Polska, DNV GL, Nestlé or HL Tech summarized many months of projects related to the automation of business processes, data digitization and building a design culture adapted to new technologies.

Not only IT management

During the ITMT conference, however, not only themes concerning building and running IT teams were explored. Participants heard much about the role of IT in digital business and the growing presence of technology in everyday life. What business models are born of the opportunities offered by technologies? What can we do to keep up with the speedy tech world?

Jovan Protić talked about the impact of technology on media business and ways of content processing, Dawid Dułak traced the benefits and challenges of implementing new technologies in large companies.

Participants also listened to a lecture by Daniel Dancy, “the most connected man in the world”, who uses about 700 systems collecting data on his life. Daniel has been organizing the collected data for years, following the question “How can we use the information we generate for our own development?” and drawing from them multidimensional conclusions that improve the quality of everyday life. Dancy cited numerous, proven ways of integrating  humans with technology, running far into the future.

In addition to the conference itself, Let’s Manage IT has already led over 50 smaller meetings, building an environment for the exchange of knowledge and contacts. The flourishing of such enterprises is a huge benefit for regional business, because the self-awareness of the environment grows and the knowledge and experience shared by them increases. This  edition of IT Manager of Tomorrow is a testimony to the development of the conference market in Tricity, which complements the “knowledge bank” of Tricity with relevant and specialized threads.
