WETOG, a German cyber security startup, has selected Tricity to open its Poland headquarters. Thanks to its revolutionary encryption technology, the company offers customers the ability to communicate and exchange data securely. By the end of 2025, the company plans to grow their team by 100 employees.
With many locations in Poland to choose from, WETOG, a startup operating in one of the most important industries for the entire economy, decided that Pomerania creates excellent conditions for their development.

The company is working on innovative solutions in the field of cybersecurity. The data in their products is not only encrypted in a standard way, but additionally secured with their own innovative LIQRYPT® technology. Information systems protection issues require the involvement of high-class specialists. When selecting the Tricity, the region’s access to appropriate human resources proved to be a key factor. Pomerania is home to 24 higher education institutions and multiple companies developing cutting edge technologies, hence the choice of the company to settle in Tricity. Gdańsk is also a favourable location for WETOG due to the close location of the company’s headquarters in Germany. This will facilitate contact, exchange of experiences and organisation of joint training courses for teams from both countries. The opportunities offered by innovative startups in the region were also assessed positively by WETOG.

A team of 7 is currently working at the Polish branch of the company, taking its first steps on the market. In the future, the company plans to specialise and create separate departments: marketing, sales, and IT, which together will work towards achieving the shared success of the company. In 2022 they plan to hire 10 employees, and in the next 3 years, the company plans to hire 100 junior-level cybersecurity engineers, software developers, marketing and sales specialists.
The most ambitious goal of the company for the future is to create an ecosystem of quantum cyber security with WETOG, Quantum Cybersecurity Hub Europe Foundation, and the University of Gdańsk. Within this project, the partners will conduct research, educational, and development work and organise training in the area of standard and quantum cyber security. The opening of the Quantum Cybersecurity Hub Europe Foundation will take place on April 2 in Elektryczny Żuraw.
– We chose this place because we wanted to show our foreign guests the picturesque and unique image of the shipyard, which is undoubtedly associated with Gdańsk. The event will be attended by leading scientists in the field of quantum cybersecurity, representatives of the Tricity authorities, our partners from Poland and Europe, and potential investors interested in cybersecurity issues. For the Foundation, it will be an ideal opportunity to present the cooperation undertaken with the University of Gdańsk and the vision of connecting the worlds of science and business under the umbrella of quantum technologies. – adds Sebastian Zimnol.
