The Pro Progressio organization has been supporting the development of the business services sector (BSS) for many years. As part of its activities, it awards each year the most important business environment organisations, shared service centers, and cities in Poland. This year, the Outsourcing Stars in the City category shines three times.
BSS is the fastest growing sector in Pomerania. Even in the difficult year 2020, nearly 2,000 new jobs were created, and the number of BSS centers exceeded 160. The range of processes supported in the region is wide, and the most popular are software development, IT helpdesk, finance and accounting. The most interesting specializations of the Tricity include Artificial Intelligence, Financial Security or technological support for the aviation, offshore and logistics industries.
Pomerania is a favourite of international investors looking for openness to new ideas, talented employees, and a unique atmosphere favouring the connection of the business world with educational institutions and our local authorities, says Mieczysław Struk, Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
For years, the Tricity has maintained its position in the forefront of Polish locations for the BSS sector. It is a place of many innovations that are created based on the mutual support of members of a strong community. The following numbers were responsible for the award: 5,760 graduates of economics and IT in 2019/2020, 8 new investments and 40 outsourcing events supported by the city in 2020.
We would like to emphasize that Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia are one organism. Our main goal is to create a single front and unified communication about the region. In this community, our greatest value and potential lies, confirms Wojciech Tyborowski, Director of Invest in Pomerania, who together with the team received this year’s award.
Tricity and Pomerania have previously been awarded such awards as 4th place in terms of FDI strategy in the Tech Cities of the Future 2020/21 ranking and awarding a place in the top five of the Global Cities of the Future 2021/22 ranking among medium and small cities and in the category Rising Cities. What’s more, in 2020, they received the award for the best place to do business by ABSL and were also recognized as the European Entrepreneurship Region 2020.
Invest in Pomerania plays a significant role in attracting and supporting investors operating in the business services sector. The latest report prepared by the initiative presents the development of BSS in the region in the last year.
